Twist Fate: RWBY

“You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

Ruby's mother, Summer Rose, was a huntress. Summer disappeared when Ruby was still a child, believed to be dead when she never returned. Ruby wanted to become a huntress. Just like her mother. 

The Grimms are the evil of this world of Remnant. They feast on our fears and they feast on our flesh. They are the very creatures that brings darkness. They do not have a soul, nor do they have a heart.

Hunters and Huntresses are the defenders. The fighters who brings justice and protection to Remnant. Who sacrifices their lives if it meant keeping the people safe from the evil.


It only takes a slight change to make things different. 
Enough to Twist Fate. 

Man is the true evil.

Summer fell to her knees. She crawled towards her child carried firmly by the hands of a Beowolf, stroking her hair and choking tears as they fell on her daughter's favorite hood. The hood was red, it was also her favorite color. A color that deepened the fabric even darker. A color that spat across the face of Ruby. 

The Beowolf exhaled deeply through its nose, the air whiffing Summer's hair slightly. It was gravely injured; on it's back a spray of arrows sunk deep into it's fur covered skin. Signs of battle scarred the body of the creature, a thick blade had managed to slice them open. 
It had tried to save Ruby. Save her from them. Those... Those people. People who dishonor the tittle of Hunters.
Back stabbing liars. 

The Beowolf. Tried..
It tried.

It failed. 
Summer failed.

Summer had wanted to become a Hero, just like the books.
She did.
She was. 
She was a Hero to her child. A mother. 
But that ambition is destroyed, a dream now a nightmare. 

Her long bearing quote she had wished be put on her gravestone when she dies, "Thus Kindly I scatter." Is not a wish she wanted to put only on her gravestone. No. Not anymore. But to those people she will inflict fear for them to repent. She will be in their head, in their dreams, in every step of the way until they beg. Beg and cry and ask for mercy. Summer herself has already scattered in pieces in terms of her heart. But it was time she did the same to them. And it won't only be their heart.

A quote that was of innocence and loss, now turned to horror of action. 

It will be their blood that will be as Red as Roses.

A Contest entry for Deviant Art's Twist Fate.

It's about time I get to join a contest. Something I'd like to participate in every once and a while and this is a chance I'd like to take. It says I can choose anything I like and so I had the freedom of doing so, and obviously, I chose RWBY. If you know the show, then Ellooo!

Originally it was supposed to be Ruby turning into a villain yadda yadda, and I am very well aware that idea has been used over and over again and I just flipped myself. So I twisted in twist itself. I brought up something that I know you'll probably, or most likely hate because you guys were already triggered in my last Comic strip panel (xD). 

Thus Kindly I scatter is from a poem "The Last Rose of Summer" by Thomas Moore. If you read it, then you know that it is about loss. And Summer here is absolutely fitting.

Things comes with a price. You wanted your mother here and alive, but you have to replace that entity where she was supposed to be dead, so my dear, it is suitable that you, the child of Rose, be in her shoes, but in a whole different scenery. A case of disappearance, in trade of a case of witness, but still tragedy all the same. 

You can think in Summer's life as she progresses on without the people she loves has grown to hate the world itself. Betrayed, fended off, an attempted murder, every possible thing that can make Summer grow hate. That, and the source of a child's loss. But if you want it in a different light where she was just avenging Ruby, then I suppose you can think of it in another way. This is where your imagination will take you.
